Honey Garlic Chicken – Instant Pot
This is an easy instant pot recipe. It is the first thing I tried in an instant pot. Serve with steamed rice.
Honey Garlic Chicken – Instant Pot

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 – 6 chicken thighs
- salt and pepper to taste
- sesame seeds, optional for garnish
- sliced green onions, optional for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the honey garlic sauce
- Using a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, ketchup, honey, garlic, oregano, and basil.
- Mix thoroughly and set the bowl aside.
Sauté the chicken using the instant pot
- Turn on the instant pot and place it in highest sauté mode.
- When the instant pot is hot, add the olive oil.
- Season the chicken thighs with a little salt and pepper … to taste.
- Sauté the chicken thighs for about 3 minutes per side, until lightly browned
- Add the honey garlic mixture to the instant pot.
Pressure cook using the instant pot
- Lock the lid in place and be sure the pressure release valve is closed.
- Use the high pressure cook function. Cook for 9 minutes. If you have a keep warm function, turn it off.
- After pressure cooking is complete, turn off the instant pot and quick release the pressure
- Transfer the chicken to a serving platter. Spoon the honey garlic sauce over the chicken. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
