Drizzle about 1/3 tablespoon oil into a 13" x 9" baking dish.
Break off the bottoms of the asparagus and use them for compost. Place the tops in the baking dish and drizzle with the remaining 2/3 tablespoon of oil over them.
Sprinkle the asparagus with the garlic, sea salt and thyme and toss to coat.
Bake for about 20 minutes at 400 F, check and stir things about halfway through.

Use a grilling basket and your grill to make this when grilling steaks or salmon.
