Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

cup
water
1
cup
sugar
1
orange
- chopped into small pieces
1
12-oz bag
cranberries
- fresh or frozen
nutmeg and cardamon
- optional, see notes
Instructions
Rinse and drain cranberries.
Using a medium saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a boil.
Add the orange pieces and the cranberries and return to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer gently for 10 or 15 minutes. Gently stir a couple of times while simmering.
Using a small bowl pour the cranberry sauce into the bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
Cool until near room temperature, then refrigerate until you are ready to serve.
Notes
Adding 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg and 1/4 teaspoon of cardamon while boiling the sugar and water gives a light holiday spice to the sauce.
